Morphological Analysis for strategic problem solving and innovation
Companies and organisations often face complicated and apparently intractable problems not readily solved using conventional approaches. They can arise from any area but what they have in common is a certain ‘slipperiness’: there doesn’t seem to be a ‘right answer’ and every time you try something they seem to change shape.
Scientists call these ‘wicked’ problems, and science has also thrown up a remarkable way of tackling them. Swiss astrophysicist Fritz Zwicky developed a technique called Morphological Analysis just for this purpose.
